Today (9th September) is World EV Day which is the ideal time for Soul Garages to demonstrate how it is adapting to the future of transportation.

As the number of electric and hybrid vehicles on UK roads surpasses 1.1 million, with many cars reaching the end of their warranty periods, the demand for skilled maintenance and repair services from independently run garages such as Soul Garages has never been higher.

Proud to be at the forefront of this shift, Soul Garages’ workshop, and vehicle technicians are prepared to meet the needs of EV owners within the local community.

A staple in Olney for over a century, Soul Garages has always been dedicated to supporting its customer base and this commitment extends to adapting to technological advancements and ensuring staff are adequately trained to safely handle the complexities of electric and hybrid vehicles.

With an observed increase in the number of these vehicle types rolling into the workshop, it became clear that equipping the technical team with the necessary skills to safely and effectively service them was essential. Today, more than half of the workshop team has completed the IMI Level 3 award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles qualification. This training empowers them to repair electric vehicles confidently and understand the intricate interplay between high-voltage and low-voltage circuits.

But Soul Garages’ commitment doesn’t stop there. By the end of this year, every team member will be put through IMI Level 1 award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles so they can work on or alongside electric vehicles. This initiative not only safeguards the entire workforce but also ensures consistent, reliable service for customers as they transition to electric vehicles as the team will have the knowledge to advise them.

Soul Garages understands that switching to an electric vehicle can be a significant decision for many. Whether you’re an early adopter of EV technology or someone considering making the switch, the team is here to offer unparalleled support to make the transition as smooth as possible, reinforcing our role as a trusted partner in the local community.
